tl;dr:
Our new AI and the Workplace page contains a free Company AI Policy Template and 10 Commandments for AI Safety. Use these resources now to encourage responsible AI use in your organisation. Also, get in touch if you require further information about safely integrating AI into your workplace, including consultancy and training.
Regular readers of our IT and cyber security blog will know we’ve cultivated an enthusiastic-yet-cautious approach to the rollout of large language models such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
Our leadership team have been very early adopters, testing AI systems and challenging their outputs. Yes, we’ve been impressed by AI’s ability to generate content, summarise meetings and analyse data. However, we’ve also been alarmed by its ability to spy on users, inadvertently share private data and, yes, lie outrageously.
Now, several years after the arrival of ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Claude, we’ve come to this conclusion:
AI will become a fundamental component of our working lives in the years ahead; however, if it isn’t deployed appropriately, it will pose an existential threat to organisations.
A dedicated AI and the workplace resource centre
This is why we made the decision to create a prominent AI and the workplace page on our website, to provide an in-depth look at the potential and dangers of this fast-developing technology. To date, we haven’t seen anyone else put something comprehensive like this together. It includes background about what AI actually is the benefits and a deep dive into some of the dangers.
Crucially, it also includes useful resources to help keep your organisation protected. These include 10 Commandments for AI Use in the Workplace, developed by our head of cyber security; and a free AI Governance Policy Template. Together, they will help to protect your organisation now and prepare you for AI-related legislation in the future.
Please take a look at our AI and the workplace page and make use of the resources. And get in touch if you would like consultancy on safely integrating AI into your workplace, or employee training.
