A start-up biotech company was looking for help in creating their SharePoint environment. They didn’t have anything formal set up for file storage or collaborating with peers. Staff were using Microsoft Teams at first but they soon outgrew this tool. They expressed an interest in SharePoint but didn’t know where to begin.
We created a custom-built SharePoint environment that was secure yet largely controlled by the client themselves. It gave them the ability to achieve controlled organic growth through conversational style collaboration.
It was very much a self-driven approach towards SharePoint where the client was in charge of the way they used the environment and we stepped back from the day-to-day managing while still ensuring that security controls were in place.
We began by doing an audit of their existing file storage structure and then preparing a comprehensive user requirements specification to understand their exact needs. We then created a plan and tested it with a focus group before doing a phased rollout with a very objective-based approach.
The client was extremely pleased with our solution as it allowed them all the benefits of an organic file storage and collaboration structure within a well-organised SharePoint environment.
The new SharePoint has enabled tighter collaboration within the team and empowered the end users by allowing them to manage the setup so that it suits their requirements. File storage and management is now much easier. We still maintain control of the risk boundaries ensuring that security is never compromised. Our client has been empowered by this user-driven approach.
